The DO’s and DONT’s in Volunteer Medical Missions

Getting bored? Want to try something new? Well, if that is your problem, then be a volunteer!

The world is still in need of volunteers that will continue the advocacy in helping the less fortunate people. If you are qualified then hurry; get yourself enlisted to philanthropic organizations so you can experience the great feeling of helping other people. But before that you must know first what are the DO’s and DONT’s of a volunteer as well as when you are in volunteer medical missions.

Here are the DO’s:
  • You must know what volunteer is. A volunteer is someone who works for free because he chooses to do so. He decided to become a volunteer because he has what it takes to become one, a loving, caring, and helping heart.
  • Enjoy. Expect to get personal enjoyment and satisfaction from your volunteer experience. Remember that when you enjoy the things that you are doing then you are giving your best.
  • Be responsible. Being a volunteer requires a hard time of serving people. If you are responsible enough then you can help many people also remember that many people will be depending on you.
  • Give your 100%. Giving your best in serving other people will give you the feeling of incomparable happiness.

Here are the DONT’s:
  • Don’t be a volunteer just to earn publicity. If you want to earn publicity then you should not be a volunteer. Remember in volunteer medical missions there no cameras surrounding you. Maybe you just bring your own camera and get a snapshot of yourself and send it to your friends or to the internet.
  • Don’t be querulous. Usually, medical missions are conducted in remote places where there is no electricity and good source of water so you may be irritable. Keep in mind that it is not a vacation. You were there to serve not to be served.
  • Don’t just be a volunteer. Your primarily role as a volunteer is not just to be a plain volunteer, but also to build a good relationship with other people. Makes friends with them. Remember we always learn something good and significant out of making friends.

If you have all the DO’s and not the DONT’s, then be a volunteer. I am sure that the world will be proud of you. Go and enjoy serving for God will always be with you!
